Resize for the platform not for a number

Every platform crops and scales differently. Instagram posts are best at 1080 by 1080, stories and TikTok at 1080 by 1920, Facebook feed at 1200 by 630, YouTube thumbnails at 1280 by 720, Pinterest pins at 1000 by 1500, Shopify products at 2048 by 2048. Use the platform preset to hit that size in one click, or use the dimension pages when you need an exact pixel count like 1920 by 1080 or 512 by 512.

Generic resizers for any size

Resize JPG Resize PNG Resize WebP and Resize AVIF accept any pixel size or percentage. They keep transparency when the format supports it, support batch, and let you pick output format and quality. They are ideal when you know width and height or when you must keep an exact aspect ratio.

Downscale stays sharp, upscale softens

Shrinking removes pixels and usually looks crisp because the browser averages pixels. Enlarging beyond the original invents pixels and can look soft. For a print at 300 DPI a 4 by 6 needs 1200 by 1800, an 8 by 10 needs 2400 by 3000. Start from the largest source you have.

Aspect ratio and fit control

Lock aspect ratio when you must avoid distortion, the other dimension updates to match the original proportions. Use crop before resize when a platform expects a centered square or portrait. For WhatsApp profiles 640 by 640 centered and circle cropped keeps faces clear.

How these resizers work

Resizing runs locally on your device. You drag a file or a folder, pick the preset, adjust quality if you want, and download. No upload, no account, no queue. Batch is supported everywhere, including square sizes 1024 512 256 128 for icons and AI images, so you can prepare full sets at once. All processing uses browser Web Workers so the UI stays responsive even for large batches.

Frequently asked questions

What size prevents Instagram from cropping or blurring my post

Use 1080 by 1080 for feed posts. Instagram scales uploads to that square, so larger files are compressed and non square images are cropped. Export at 1080 by 1080 in your browser and the post stays sharp edge to edge. Use our resize for Instagram post tool for one click.

Should I resize or compress when my image must be under 100KB

Resize first. Cutting pixels reduces bytes far more than lowering quality alone. Shrink to the required dimensions, then compress to the target size. You will keep higher quality at the same byte size.

Why does my upscaled photo look soft even at high quality

Upscaling invents pixels that were not captured, so edges blur. It helps to start from the largest original. If you must enlarge a lot, run a mild sharpen after resizing but expect softness beyond about 1.5 times the original.

Which preset should I use for an Amazon product image to unlock zoom

Use 2000 by 2000 for Amazon. Amazon enables zoom when the longest side is over 1000 pixels and recommends 2000 by 2000. For Shopify use 2048 by 2048 which balances zoom and store speed. Try our resize for Amazon product tool.

What pixel size is correct for a US passport photo for print and upload

600 by 600 pixels which equals 2 by 2 inches at 300 DPI. Export exactly 600 by 600 with the face centered. For a 4 by 6 print use 1200 by 1800 at 300 DPI.

Can I resize a batch of images to square 512 for icons together

Yes. Add the folder to resize to 512 by 512, keep aspect ratio locked if you want centered fit, and download a ZIP. All images are resized locally and keep transparency for PNG and WebP.

How do I avoid distortion when a platform wants a different ratio

Lock aspect ratio and choose cover or contain fit. Cover crops to fill the frame without stretching, contain fits inside with empty space. Pick based on whether cropping is acceptable for that image. Our resize for Instagram post tool handles this automatically.
